Matthew Lindner, Director, Educational Services |
Director Lindner, along with the Crocker Middle School Math Department, will present the proposed adjustments to its middle school math course pathways to take place beginning in the 2021-2022 school year. This presentation will be very similar to the presentations provided at Parent Town Halls on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021 and Wednesday, May 5th, 2021. The adjustment would have all 6th graders enter Crocker and take 6th grade math to build a solid foundation and then students would be given the option to accelerate starting in 7th grade with a compressed 7th/8th course followed by High School Algebra 1 in 8th grade. Students will also be able to take 7th Common Core and 8th Common Core as they currently are offered. The endpoints for math at Crocker do not change; students may take either 8th Common Core or HS Algebra 1 in 8th grade. Additionally, a bridge course between 7th and 8th grade will still be offered for students taking 7th Common Core and desiring to take HS Algebra 1 in 8th grade.
Please refer to the attached presentation and the FAQ document for additional information. HCSD families can also refer to the Friday Newsletter sent out by Superintendent Carlomagno on Friday, April 30th where a recording of the first meeting was shared. A recording of the second meeting will be shared on Friday, May 7th in the Friday newsletter. The information contained in both is the same. |

One of the Business Departments's 2020-21 Initiatives and Action Steps in support of our HCSD Essential Outcomes is to implement fixed assets and inventory tracking in Financial 2000. The goal is to have, "All fixed assets and inventory items are accounted for in the system and physically." AssetWorks Risk Management Inc. is a firm that specializes in inventory audits for public and private sector organizations; they work closely with our county insurance group (SMCISG) and have performed this service for other school districts in San Mateo county. AssetWorks has submitted a proposal to perform an asset inventory and verification of machinery and equipment, including technology, fixed assets with an original cost of $500 and greater. The resulting data will provide the District proper accountability and stewardship of capital assets, assist with the financial reporting requirements of GASB 34, and external audit requirements. The district wishes to accept this proposal and schedule this audit ASAP. |
